PLAYROOM & OFFICE

This playroom is a fun, colorful space where kids of all ages can socialize, create, and recharge. A bold wall mural with personalized easter eggs sets the tone for kids to push the boundaries of their imaginations and create their own works of art and Lego masterpieces. Essential to any modern kids’ space is a computer desk for gaming and homework, and a TV for video games, movies, and background entertainment. A double basketball hoop encourages friendly competition and socializing, while a cozy seating area offers a perfect space to wind down and rest.

We know it’s unconventional, but we think we’re onto something here: placing the home office right at the front of the house in an open space next to the playroom. Hear us out on this.

The playroom-adjacent home office makes more practical use of the space originally allocated for a formal dining room and frees up the more common space for a home office: a spare bedroom (albeit quiet and distraction-free, spare bedroom offices can easily become isolating and depressing). Being near the action lets our worker bee feel connected to the rest of the activity in the home, gives them a front room view to see the neighborhood activity and greet delivery drivers when they bring packages, and improves household relationships by giving adults and kids a communal space to spend time, rather than closing off the parent in a far-flung corner of the house.

Of course, a great work environment isn’t only about location. This home office keeps things stylish and functional with a statement chandelier, comfy and sleek chairs for visitors, and a spacious desk for spreading out projects. With plenty of drawers for storing files and— let’s be honest— craft supplies, it’s a chic, no-nonsense space that makes working from home energizing and efficient.
